SONSAF believes the Somali wisdom of
“If we agree to talk, we will come to an agreement” based on this wisdom, the
umbrella organizes debates and dialogues that emphasis national issues. The nature
of debates/dialogues that the umbrella organizes varies including election
debates, policy/acts dialogues, peace dialogues, climate change/environment
dialogues, political inclusion of marginalized groups dialogues, localization
dialogues and many more. After each debate/dialogue SONSAF conducts impact
assessment to determine change of community perception on the discussed
debate/dialogue subject. Dialogue is important in democracy as people are given
space to engage and discuss critical issues that affect them which creates a
higher chance for a Country to implement reforms that can contribute to lasting
peace, cultivating a thriving inclusive democracy.
