The projects supported the governance processes of local and regional levels in Somaliland by strengthening and capacitating through increased participation, accessibility, and inclusivity of citizens. In conjunction, with NEC and Parliamentary Sub-Committees, SONSAF ensured the legal and governing election frameworks were harmonized. Furthermore, SONSAF utilised the NSAs Forum to reduce tensions surrounding the election through mediation and political harmonisation efforts.
• 20 CSOs members trained on mediation and dialogue skills.
• Produced ve case studies illustrating the role of mediation in reducing tensions throughout the election cycle.
• 10 consultations held on the legal and administrative framework for elections.
• Electoral laws are successfully amended and made law ahead of the 2017 election.
• 90 political party members are trained in developing policies, structures, & systems to conduct professional election campaigns that comply with relevant legislation and best practice.
• 7,500 party agents are trained in election monitoring.
